The Congregation of the Deenasevanasabha (Servants of the Poor), founded at Pattuvam, Kannur Dt. in Kerala, in 1969 by Mother Petra Monnigmann with the objective of helping the poor and down trodden in the society, irrespective of caste, creed or race has grown spreading its services to 10 different states of India through its 93 different houses and 610 sisters. Our charism is 'Service in Charity' and poverty to work in the villages among the poorest of the poor.
It is a Registered Charitable Society addressing the needs of the poor especially the Women and the Children and special categories of infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, Leprosy, the imprisonment of old age etc. We do this through our service centers of orphanages, residential school for the deaf and dumb, mentally challenged, boarding, care homes for the HIV/AIDS, Leprosarium, and home for the Senior Citizens. We have a special commitment for the rural population.
We came into existence when Mother Willigard, an extremely dedicated missionary visited an institution in Bangalore in the year 2000 which was the home of many HIV/AIDS infected children. She was utterly touched by the abject pain and misery of those children and opened up the Infant Jesus Children Home on 24th Of March 2001.
Since then, the Infant Jesus Children Home has dedicated itself for the welfare of HIV infected children and ensures none are deprived of the right to treatment and, most importantly, love and compassion.
